They are busy, well used and not Las Vegas, but you can still have a great time or a poor one depending on what you are looking for. We have been to every Casino in Minnesota, if you have been to one you have been to all. They also go around like the ballpark and holler beer for sale, by push cart personnel. There used to be one bar, now there were three and one was temporary.

The price was a little out of proportion for Northern rural Minnesota, but the location is close enough to Minneapolis and Duluth to excuse that. We saw a number of people with face masks on, guess a person just has to gamble? We ate in the formal dining room, the food was very good and the service really good. There is a small non-smoking section that is open to the main smoking floor so it's really not non-smoking at all. If anyone one is interested in the casino, it is fine as far as casinos go. The pillows are very soft and almost like not having one at all. The bed in the room was very uncomfortable, and more pillows and better pillows would have been nice. The hotels is still in decent shape but dated and starting to show it around the edges, but by no means dirty. That does not bother us, but may bother some. We had to stay in a smoking room because all of the Non-smoking we booked. Be advised that there is more than one hotel here, we stayed at The Grand Hinckley Inn.

Every once in a while we decide to stay for the night. We have been to this casino/hotel many times over the last 15 to 20 years. I understand the spa is excellent, but did not use it myself. Everyone was very friendly and helpful from the front desk to the bellman and also the casino staff. I give very high marks to the entire staff. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich which was very good - not greasy. We got the the buffet right before closing and was irritated by the staff vacuuming before the place was empty! Had lunch the next day at the grill, we all enjoyed our food and the quality was superior to the buffet. The buffet had a very good selection but like most buffets the food quality was just fair to good. So if you would like a frig, ask for a room with one. My room had a small kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator. I appreciated the wide selection of cable TV channels (not that I was in the room all that much).

The room was clean and well maintained, although the mattress was nearing the end of its useful life. It was a weeknight so it was not super busy. This time I stayed the night with some friends. I had not been there in years, and last time was only for a day trip.
